Romanian Hippocide

Hippocide, from the greek for horse “hippos” and the latin “-cide” for killing.

It turns out that in its vast socialist wisdom the EU forced Romania to ban horse-drawn carts from its roads, and the result has been that owners of now economically useless horses turned them out and stopped feeding them. Gethin Chamberlain writes:

Once, they would have pulled wooden carts along the city’s streets or worked in the fields, as horses have done in Romania for centuries. But now they have been abandoned by their owners, victims of a disastrous attempt to bring the country into line with European Union law by banning horse-drawn carts from main roads.Over the past month, hundreds of stray horses have been found roaming the streets and parks of Romania’s major cities. Many are half-starved and barely able to walk; some have died where they were discovered, unable to get back to their feet.

So, we find that the incredible wisdom of state socialism kills animals with greater efficiency and cruelty than an animal testing lab. The irony is that animal rights activists are some of the biggest fans of socialism because they know there is no other way that their extremist, anti-human agenda will ever take effect.

Now we can add anti-horse to the list of adjectives in front of their agenda.

But in times of difficulty, in times of hardship, friends stand together, side by side; they support each other; and help one another.

Fratricide in the Counterjihad: LGF vs. the Brussels Journal

The leftist slander of conservativism, that Italian Fascists and German Nazis were a bunch of conservatives, continues to make hay in a dispute between LGF and the Brussels Journal.

Charles Johnson of LGF, who has maintained a very good website for a long time, doesn’t want his anti-Jihad and anti-Sharia stance to be confused with racism. He sees signs of racism and distant neo-Nazi associations in the Flemish Vlaams Belang political party and at the Flemish patriotic Brussels Journal. And condemns it.

Paul Belien, of the Brussels Journal, is basically gobsmacked at being accused of Nazism and racism by LGF.

As the British conservative philosopher and author Roger Scruton said in a speech in Antwerp last year, the charge of racism and xenophobia in the EU countries “has become the equivalent of a charge of heresy in medieval Europe, of witchcraft in colonial Massachusetts, or of ‘deviationism” in the Stalinist state.” However, as Mr. Scruton pointed out, “we have a duty to brave the charge of ‘racism and xenophobia’, and to discuss every aspect of immigration.”Mr. Scruton made his remarks in a speech to the Vlaams Belang party – a party which has been accused of racism and xenophobia by the Belgian authorities. “There are many people in this country,”Mr. Scruton added, “who believe that I should not talk to you at all, and that by doing so I become tainted with the very charge that has been levelled at you: the charge of racism and xenophobia. By talking about this charge, I hope to deflect it. I am neither racist nor xenophobic; I am in the habit of assuming that the same is true of others, until they have shown evidence to the contrary; and I am glad that a Party exists that is willing to brave this charge, in order to discuss the problem that is in the minds of all ordinary Europeans today.”

Fjordman, in commenting about this fracas, describes the problem with accusations of racism in Europe.

I’d like to continue the debate about “racism,” which now frequently means something along the lines of “I’m a Multiculturalist. I’ve just lost the debate because I have poor arguments in favor of my case. I want to shut you up, therefore you are a racist.”An American friend of mine once suggested the creation of an European Indigenous People’s Party. When seeing the speed of the demographic shift that is taking place and the censorship imposed on any debate of the issue, maybe this will actually happen. There is no other continent where the indigenous peoples are being systematically stripped of their heritage, displaced in their own cities and are subject to violence and abuse with the active participation of their own authorities, yet where this is celebrated as a victory for tolerance and where the natives are banned from even verbally opposing any of this. Yes, I think this reveals an anti-European bias.

Now I personally think that racism is ridiculous, because the similarities within ethnic groups of humans are minor when compared to the differences between individuals, whatever their ethnicity. And the similarities within humans of like pigmentation are even less. The Nazi race war was just as despicable as the Marxist-Leninist class war, not more and not less. Both Socialist creeds were responsible for millions of deaths. Both were anti-Jew, both were anti-Christian, and both have been associated with the most vile strains of totalitarianism in Muslim countries.

And it is the anti-Jew, anti-Christian part that matters the most. Muslim anti-Jew and anti-Christian hatred is well established. The American Left is developing its own anti-Jew and anti-Christian platform. Communist and Nazi anti-Jew and anti-Christian currents are a matter of history. And on these counts neither LGF nor the Brussels Journal are guilty. The battle between them is a tragedy. It is fratricide. Friendly fire.

And LGF started it and keeps the pot boiling. It is a disappointment to me and to others.

James Lewis and Lawrence Auster are also disappointed in LGF’s actions in this case.

Thugs Nearly Murder “Stop Islamisation of Europe” Leaders

The translation to English is squirrelly, but I think you will get the message.

there was a loud bang and the frontwindow was damaged. About two autonomous looking types were in the front and two on ecah sites smashing the site windows shouting Get him out get him out! and started hitting Anders and the SIAD passenger in the other site with ironbars. The SIAD member in the middle (foto) was hit of a thrown filled soda bottle in her backhead.

Anders succeded after a while to kick one of the autonomous hard in the face as he leaned in to unlock the door. Anders mananged to get out with a fire extinguisher from the van and hit another one hard on the shoulder. It remained later that they attemted to stab him down when there was found cut holes in the shirt, jacket and vest. Anders was wearing his securityvest which saved his life.

Independent Terrorist versus Part of a Terror Network

The Independent Terrorist, or exemplar of Sudden Jihad Syndrome, fascinates many observers. But the reality ranges along a continuum from Independent actors to those who have traveled to Chechnya, Algeria, Mali or Pakistan and trained in the Jihad camps there.

Jihadist Travel Plans

While some Jihadists see their home areas as a field for terrorism, most travel away from home to wage Jihad. Some travel elsewhere in Europe, or to lesser known destinations like Somalia. But most travel to Afghanistan and Pakistan, or to Iraq, to fight Americans. Those from the Nordic and Germanic countries (plus England) go to Afghanistan, those from the Latin countries go to Iraq.

Jihad and Rap Music

Jihad in Europe, rather than being inspired by pure religious fervor, seems to be driven by the glamor, access to drugs, and easy money associated with a nihilistic, criminal life. Most European Jihadists are not driven by love of Islam, but by hatred for the society in which they live. Transmission of this pattern overwhelmingly takes place in prison, where irreligious prisoners are converted to Jihadist Islam by committed Jihad recruiters.

Leaving the Urbs

In the south of Europe, Muslim immigrants working in agriculture are ministered to by wandering Deobandi or Wahabist imams with radical messages. In some places, these missions have spawned not only radical mosques but isolated radical communes that engage in smuggling of Jihadists and money to Iraq.

Eastern Europe

Radical and Wahabi influence is widespread in Kosovo and Bosnia and the rest of the Balkans, and it is growing.

Attempts to Islamise the west cannot be denied

The Eurabia project is well underway. Mark Steyn predicts that Europe will be under the jackboot of Islamic law by the end of the 21st century we are now in. That means the Mona Lisa will be destroyed or painted over with a burka. The Vatican will be besieged and overrun. The great churches will be burned down or converted into mosques, their altars desecrated and the stained glass bricked up, the pews hacked up and converted into firewood, the stone floors carpeted over. Exhortations to Jihad and the killing of Infidels will blare from every mosque. The Christians and Jews of Europe will live in fear. The atheists, homosexuals, decadent artists and intellectuals of Europe will convert to Jihadist Islam like Cat Stevens or be killed like Theo Van Gogh.

Dymphna of Gates of Vienna describes the latest development in the Vatican’s understanding of the situation:

Given the Muslim outrage the last time the Pontiff said something substantive about the history of Islam and the West, it has fallen to his secretary to make public observations about what is going on:

Pope Benedict XVI’s private secretary warned of the Islamisation of Europe and stressed the need for the continent’s Christian roots not to be ignored.

“Attempts to Islamise the west cannot be denied,” Monsignor Georg Gaenswein was quoted as saying in the weekly Sueddeutsche Magazin to be published Friday.

“The danger for the identity of Europe that is connected with it should not be ignored out of a wrongly understood respectfulness,” the magazine quoted him as saying.

As Geoffrey Chaucer wrote in the Nun’s Priest’s Tale:

While the murder of the West in Europe is not complete, it is planned. And it is obvious, and day by day becoming more so even to those who squeeze their eyes shut. If we watch we will see the knives plunge into its breast pinning Jihadist threats again and again, every day. If we refuse easy, shallow pacifism and take action, we may yet be able to save the West, even Europe.

It is good to know that the Vatican is awake. It is still the soul of Europe, and can still be its salvation.

Micro-Caliphates of Eurabia Presentation

Catholicgauze is a geographer who takes a geographer’s interest in the issue of terrorism. Some readers may be aware of the riots in the banlieus of Paris, those areas that would be called the Paris projects by an American English speaker, that raged in late 2005 (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10). Mr. Gauze has an interest in areas like the banlieus, areas that have become separately ruled religious ghettos in a system similar to the confessional system that rules Lebanon. As Lebanon was a French colony this seems typical behavior for France.

He calls these areas Sharia Microstates. I wrote about his abstract in November 2006, and now he’s presented the paper and is looking for publication, so he has slides, with notes.

Some of the most interesting pieces in the presentation are on how these Sharia Microstates spread. They are not simply little standalone ghettos. Via the Internet, they are highly connected outposts of Islamic countries, usually Saudi Arabia, and serve as centers of radicalization and jihadist agitation, as well as fund raising for Wahabbist operations back in the old country.

Terror Murder Plot Against Geert Wilders Revealed

Pim Fortuyn and Theo Van Gogh were only the focus of the first plans to terrorize the Dutch people.

[Dutch] MP Geert Wilders was threatened with a suicide attack last week. Two young men reportedly planned to shoot the politician down and detonate a van full of explosives next to the politician. “Many innocent people were to die in the chaos.” […] The initial, very concrete warning spoke about an attack planned for early February. Wilders would first be shot, and then a man would drive a white delivery van into the victim and detonate the 500 to 600 kilos of explosives in the vehicle. (Brussels Journal from Expatica)

The perpetrators were not fundamentalists, said the informer. They just wanted revenge.

Well, it’s all good then. Right?

Not.

Theo Van Gogh is still dead, and his murderer retains voting rights in the Netherlands. The Netherlands wants terrorists to vote, even if they are unfortunately incarcerated in a jail because they committed terror murder. The Dutch government is not serious.

From “We are all Armenians” to Posing for Souvenir Photos with the Killer

The Turkish security forces face fresh embarrassment after it emerged that some of its members had posed for “souvenir pictures” with the alleged murderer of Turkish-Armenian journalist Hrant Dink.Film footage and photos leaked to the media showed 17-year-old Ogun Samast, who has confessed to the murder, displaying a Turkish flag, flanked by members of the security forces, some of them in uniform.Behind them is a calendar featuring another Turkish flag and the words of the country’s founder, Ataturk: “The motherland’s soil is sacred. It cannot be left to its destiny.” (source)

The problem of toxic Turkish nationalism is a serious one for Turkey. A Fascist Nationalism is the force that protects and militates against Islamism and Jihadism in Turkey, yet it is informed by those strains that also seek after authoritarianism. The Young Turks who propagated the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire were the predecessors of the the Moslem Brotherhood, which in turn gave birth to Fatah, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and Al Qaeda. After the Ottoman Empire was broken up and Attaturk dissolved the Caliphate, Attaturk encouraged Nationalist feelings in order to guard against further Islamist excesses.

The relationship between this hysterical type of Turkish nationalism–or, to use a more appropriate term, Turkish fascism–and Islam is worth clarifying. There are of course many militant Islamists in the world today, but Turkish fascists are not among them. In fact, they are clearly distinguished from and often at odds with Turkey’s Islamic circles, some of which are strong proponents of democratization and the EU bid. The fascists defend Islam and use it in some of their slogans, to be sure, but this is because they see religion as an important component of the Turkish identity. They hate the “infidel” Jews, Armenians, or Americans, but they detest Muslim Kurds and Arabs, too. Indeed, some of their most extreme factions don’t like Islam because of its trans-nationalism; instead they yearn for the pagan faiths of the pre-Islamic Turks.

Threats and violence have been the traditional tools these fascist cadres use to silence the intellectuals they hate–including liberal novelists such as the recent Nobel laureate Orhan Pamuk, and the Sufi-inspired Elif Safak. With the murder of Hrant Dink, they probably wanted to give a warning to them all. But the reaction of Turkish society to this political assassination suggests that their plan has backfired. Right after Dink’s murder, thousands of people gathered in front of his office to protest the crime. Their maxim was dramatic: “We are all Hrant Dink.” And the Turkish media, save for a few extremist dailies that support the fascist line, published heartfelt praise for Dink and grave condemnation of his murder.

Moreover, Hrant Dink’s funeral turned into an unprecedented rally against fascism in Turkish society. About one hundred thousand people from all walks of life and faiths marched in the wide avenues of Istanbul, creating a scenic river of bodies. The motto of the day was “We are all Armenians.”(source)
