Coughlin Redux

The guys at Augean Stables closely read Stephen Coughlin’s thesis and highlight some of the best parts. Read it all.

Since neither tough cop nor nice cop will work with the current dynamics of apocalyptic violence that our ignorance has fostered, it seems that we need a fundamental change in our approach to the current thrash of cultures which has become so much more violent since 2000. And rather than swinging wildly from nice cop (PCP, Current Approach) to tough cop (HJP, Coughlin approach), we need to have our nice cops cease being dupes of demopaths, start listening to the tough cops, and ask — gently — some hard questions of all those Islamic “moderates” who promote a dialogue designed primarily to keep us in ignorance. If we can’t tell the difference between Muslim demopaths and real moderates, we are, indeed, preparing a terrible war further down the pike. Si vis pacem, para bellum.

In other, good news, we pass on the report that Stephen Coughlin is not being fired from the DOD, but is transferring from one department to another and is arguably being promoted. Included is an extract from a statement by Rep. Sue Myrick of NC

I decided to vet this matter personally. I met with Members of the House and Senate, Pentagon officials, and even Major Coughlin himself. Major Coughlin told me that he has had a great working relationship with the Joint Staff and that he did not believe there was any conspiracy to remove him from his position. In fact, he was already planning to leave the Joint Staff at the end of his contract. Lest the rumors persist, Major Coughlin will be associated with another office program within the Office of the Secretary of Defense where he will continue to spread his message.

Rep. Myrick continues:

One clear point that emerges from this issue: Major Coughlin’s thesis must be read by everyone responsible for ensuring the safety of America. If we fail to emerge victorious, our radical enemy threatens to establish fascist, Taliban-style governments in many parts of the world. These would be constructed around a system of rules so severe that women are forced to be second-class citizens- as in Taliban-era Afghanistan. In such a society, I would be put to death for writing this piece. In order to ensure that the ideals of our founders persist into the next generation, Americans must be willing to confront the enemy head-on—and be smart about it.

Hallelujah. Amen!

Is This the New Normal?

Charles Johnson shares a death threat from an Omani adherent of the Religion of Peace. (h/t: Robert Spencer)

Allah Willing, thetime will come when flashes of fire will burn your belly to ash, your wife(your yahoodi whore) shall be a slave for the pleasure of the Al-Muslimoon. Inshallah, I will find yuo and killed you SOMEDAY YOU KUFFAR PIG, YOU SON OF THE APES AND THE SWINE ALLAH TA’ALLA SHALL ROAST YOUR ORGANS FOR THE PLEASURE OF THE MUSLIMS YOU SCUM FILTHEIR THNA THE COCKROACH, YOU K A F I R

Just a few days ago, Larry O’Donnell revealed to Hugh Hewitt that he would rather slander a presidential candidate’s religion than say anything bad about Islam, because he is scared of Muslims.

HH: Would you say the same things about Mohammed as you just said about Joseph Smith?

LO’D: Oh, well, I’m afraid of what the…that’s where I’m really afraid. I would like to criticize Islam much more than I do publicly, but I’m afraid for my life if I do.

Memetic Engineering in the Counterjihad

If it isn’t already happening in secret somewhere, it’s high time to put together an organized effort to combat the Jihad ideologically: A Manhattan Project of counterjihad memetic engineering. Memetic engineering promises to deliver a platform for 4GW/5GW ideological warfare against the Jihad. Al Qaeda has been operating in the ideological war nearly unopposed, with reflexive assistance from the neocommunists of the transnational progressive NGOs and leftist political parties. What will it take?

Zenpundit Comments

Zenpundit is always worth reading at his eponymous blog or at Chicago Boyz. Both are already on my blogroll. Imagine my surprise when only a day after he surveyed the work of Fabius Maximus, esteemed Roman general, at his site he mentioned some of my recent 4GW postings.

Wolf Pangloss has a series of interesting posts on 4GW and information operations that readers might care to consider in light of the discussion that has ensued in the comments section of the post on the strategic analysis of Fabius Maximus.

The comments consist of a dispute between those who appear to use 4GW theory in a pro-Iraq-war way and those who appear to use 4GW theory in an anti-Iraq-war way. I see myself as neither. Instead, I’m one of those whose intent is to use the theoretical framework to influence those who can be influenced when they are ready (if not before). This is not restricted to the military itself, to military thinkers (Fabius Maximus‘ audience), or to the enemy and the population that supports the enemy in this war, but also to the population around us and its institutions. We in the West have (at least in public) lost touch with our moral and martial traditions, banished from the common discourse by the nihilism of multiculturalism within the academy, the courts, and media. Whether we, the sovereign people of the west, choose to go to war or not, we must clear the multicultural fog from our perceptors before we make that choice. That requires a new Hercules to clean the Augean Stables of this age.

Ralph Peters: 12 Myths of 21st Century War

The SWJ Editors list the bullet points from Peters’ original article over at SWJ Blog (Discussion).

Myth No. 1: War doesn’t change anything.
Myth No. 2: Victory is impossible today.
Myth No. 3: Insurgencies can never be defeated.
Myth No. 4: There’s no military solution; only negotiations can solve our problems.
Myth No. 5: When we fight back, we only provoke our enemies.
Myth No. 6: Killing terrorists only turns them into martyrs.
Myth No. 7: If we fight as fiercely as our enemies, we’re no better than them.
Myth No. 8: The United States is more hated today than ever before.
Myth No. 9: Our invasion of Iraq created our terrorist problems.
Myth No. 10: If we just leave, the Iraqis will patch up their differences on their own.
Myth No. 11: It’s all Israel’s fault. Or the popular Washington corollary: “The Saudis are our friends.”
Myth No. 12: The Middle East’s problems are all America’s fault.

I wouldn’t call these myths since they don’t serve as the foundation of any meaningful belief system, but rather cliched anti-war slogans from the fevered brains of International ANSWER and Code Pink.

How has one man in a cave managed to out-communicate the world’s greatest communication society?

A perceptive Singaporean diplomat and scholar, Kishore Mahbubani, was asked two years ago what puzzled him about America’s competition with Osama bin Laden. Mahbubani replied: “How has one man in a cave managed to out-communicate the world’s greatest communication society?

I and many others have often expressed frustration at the way that America has refused to act effectively in the information battle-space of the Global Jihad and Counterjihad.

Can Muslims Awaken from their Civilizational Nightmare before they bring about the end of the world?

Very interesting from Bahrani blogger Emoodz, as translated by Amira Al Hussaini of Global Voices.

My family, like a lot of other families in Bahrain, suffers from a breakdown due to work, which never ends. We rarely meet as a family for lunch on weekdays. This gives lunch gatherings during holidays a special flavour, even if they lack in all the rice and curry dishes as many of us are avoiding getting obese – which has become the boogie man many families have been avoiding in the last half of the previous decade, mostly at the expense of delicious food.

While speaking to my dad as he was devouring a piece of Mullet (type of fish) in a unique ferocity associated with Bahranis (Shia population of Bahrain), we started speaking about sectarianism and the division in society based on sects, particularly in Bahrain, and around the Arab world in general. He spoke in depth about how religion was the basis and reason for sectarianism, adding that it is now one of the woes we as Muslims have to accept without objection. Continue reading

Alms for Jihad: it’s baaaaaaack!

From Bryan at Hot Air:

According to an email that we received today, Alms for Jihad authors Robert O. Collins and J. M. Burr have gotten the publishing rights to the book back from Cambridge University Press. They’re in negotiations with US publishers to have it published here in the US.

I wrote about Alms for Jihad and the libel tourist Sheikh Khalid bin Mahfouz, personal banker to the Saudi royal family, former CEO of the National Commercial Bank of Saudi Arabia and the unindicted, former Chief Operating Officer of of BCCI (Bank of Credit and Commerce International), the international criminal bank, here.
