Swift Hogs Friday Open Post and Trackbacks

A pork dealer in Georgetown, D.C. bargained with a Yankee drover for a lot of hogs. The Yankee drove two lots of hogs all the way to the Potomac river where they were to be delivered. He stood in the middle of a bridge and had the hogs driven at speed across the bridge. When he counted that half the hogs had passed the Yankee jumped out and headed off the rest, then left with his hogs and the money. He was heard to remark in later days that he knew a man in Georgetown who owned the swiftest hogs in the United States, but as for him he’d rather have the fat ones.
