Non-existent details of Gitmo abuse

IHT, Mauritanian Guantanamo detainee details abuse, says Americans desecrated Quran

Though never tortured himself, Mohamed Lemine Ould Sidi Mohamed compared his detention to torture, telling The Associated Press in an interview: “Humiliating words against religion and against Muslims were a kind of currency they used every day.”

When a writer uses a verb like “details” for a prisoner’s description of his treatment, the reader expects to find some personal experience and details among the descriptions. But not this time. Mohammed squared (M2) is different.

“We respect and support the detainees’ right to worship,” a Guantanamo spokesman, Navy Cmdr. Rick Haupt, said Friday, adding that the military provides the men there with prayer rugs and prayer along with Qurans in multiple languages.

“Allegations from detainees is common behavior and in keeping with tactics taught to al-Qaida members through their training guide,” he said.

See the Manchester Document for an early example of this.

M2 doesn’t know why he was arrested. “I’s innocent I tells you. Innocent! Innocent!”

“I spent five years in Guantanamo, but I don’t know anyone in al-Qaida and I have no relations with those people,” Mohamed said.

He doesn’t know anyone in Al Qaeda who was at the prison, but he knows what he believes.

Mohamed said he was not abused himself at Guantanamo, but he believed others were. “Each time people were interrogated, we heard the screams caused by torture,” he said.

M2 wasn’t tortured. People talked mean to him and stepped on a book that he thought was the Koran. But he’s sure that people were tortured when they were interrogated, even though it didn’t happen to him.

What is wrong with the media who published this non-story? Why is this even in the IHT? Who believes this stuff?

What to do in a Counterjihad against a death cult?

Jeffrey Imm writes a lengthy and important article at the Counterterrorism Blog.

The Jihadist ideology embraces death, which is why suicide bombers are such an effective strategy. Indeed it is the only strategy that has allowed a mass-casualty attack by foreigners on the American homeland since the War of 1812. The Jihadist strategy of embracing death negates “Mutually Assured Destruction” tactics, it negates traditional military tactics, it negates traditional diplomatic tactics, and it requires new thinking and strategy based on the reality of the Jihadist ideology.Fighting an enemy whose focus is supernatural and who “loves death” is first and foremost an ideological war. This must be the same ideological war that our law enforcement are led to believe that they have no role in. Traditional warfare tactics will have the same limited results as they would in fighting an enemy army of the undead, as the concept of death itself being a worst case result is not a part of the Jihadist ideology.

America and the West remain in denial regarding the supernatural nature of the enemy’s ideology. Viewing the enemy only as “terrorists” is fighting with blinders on.

Read it all.

The death cult nature of Jihadism and Political Islam makes the ideological battle against them interesting, to say the least. Death cultists such as members of Al Qaeda who seek their evil form of martyrdom have been inoculated against homesickness, brotherly feeling toward their fellow man, and other forms of leverage that might draw them back into the human family. It is possible that the only thing that can be done with them is to kill them before the evil parasites inside their psyches hatch into human bombs.

I do not know the full answer. However, I do know that any form of religious feeling that not only seeks out and sacralizes the death of the worshipper, but also elevates mass human sacrifice of all who are not fellow believers, a perfect example of evil and wickedness, to a good of the religion, is not in any way the worship of a good and kind God and cannot be treated as any sort of religion other than devil worship. The Aztec worship of Huitzilopochtli, the god of the smoking mirror, was wiped out because it was irredeemably wicked. The evidence concerning Jihadism isn’t all in, but initial returns indicate that it is equally evil, and must be excised from the body of humanity.

How to excise it is a hard problem.

The Palestinians’ Nazi Past and Present

Professor X writes for Front Page Magazine:

The most important book to read on the Palestinians, the Arabs and the Nazis has, unfortunately, not yet been translated into English. Klaus-Michael Mallmann and Martin Cüppers’ Halbmond und Hakenkreuz. Das “Dritte Reich”, die Araber und Palästina, translated Crescent Moon and Swastika: The Third Reich, the Arabs, and Palestine was published September, 2006.

Dr. Klaus-Michael Mallman, the author of many books on Germany and the Holocaust, is Privatdozent für Neuere Geschichte at the University of Essen. Martin Cuppers is a researcher at the Forschungsstelle Ludwigsburg, and has published an important book on the command staff and office of the Reichsfuhrer SS, the Head of the SS, Heinrich Himmler.

Here is a summary of the argument of the book, translated from a long summary in German:

The Nazis prepared to extend the Holocaust into Palestine and in preparation for doing so they infected the Arabs with their ideology, especially the Muslim Brotherhood, and the forces around Amin al-Husseini, in order to have allies.

“The Jew is the enemy and to kill him pleases Allah.” This statement, which is formulated a bit more rhetorically in the Charter of the Palestinian government party Hamas and which appears in publications of the Iranian state publishing house, and is daily broadcast by Hezbollah TV al-Manar to all world, actually originates neither from Islamic extremists nor from recent events. It was the common coin of Nazi radio broadcasts to the Arabs between 1939 and 1945 in order to win Arab hearts and minds to the German cause. Meanwhile German Middle East experts endeavored in Germany to convince the Nazi government of “the natural alliance” between National Socialism and Islam. Experts such as the former German Ambassador in Cairo, Eberhard von Stohrer, reported to Hitler in 1941 that “the Fuhrer already held an outstanding position among the Arabs because of his fight against the Jews.”

It continues

Despite the initial Nazi tolerance of Jewish emigration from Germany to Palestine, the Nazi government eventually expanded their Holocaust plans to include the destruction of the Jews in the Near East. Studies undertaken by SS Einsatzgruppe [Special Taskforce] F already were listing Jewish dwellings in Palestine to be confiscated as accommodations for German troops once the Afrika Korps arrived in Palestine. Starting from the summer of 1942, an “SS Einsatz Gruppe Egypt” was established after the model of the mass-murder Einsatzgruppen active on the East Front, which had already murdered hundreds of thousands of Jews. The one established in Egypt was led by SS-Obersturmbannführer Walter Rauff and he had a whole staff with him, experienced in the murder of Jews, experts from the RSHA, the Head Office for Reich Reich Security. Their order: To continue “the destruction of the Jews begun in Europe with the energetic assistance of Arab collaborators” in the Near East.

According to Mallmann and Cuppers, the main Nazi ally locally was the Arab National Movement, and especially the Palestinian national movement, under the guidance of the exiled Amin al-Husseini Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and uncle of the later Palestinian president Yassir Arafat.

Much of this is already known. See for example this video on Youtube

Also reference Alan Dershowitz’s article debunking AhmediNajad’s Holocaust myths on Huffington Post.

The mid to late 1930’s were marked by Arab efforts to curtail immigration and Jewish efforts to rescue as many Jews as possible from Hitler’s Europe. These years were also marked by escalating Muslim violence orchestrated by Husseini and other Muslim leaders. In 1936, Arab terrorism took on a new dimension. In the beginning the targets were once again defenseless Jewish civilians in hospitals, movie theatres, homes and stores. This was followed by strikes and shop closures, and then by the bombing of British offices. The Nazi regime in Germany and the Italian fascists supported the violence, sending “millions” to the Mufti. The SS, under the leadership of Heinrich Himmler, provided both financial and logistical support for anti-Semitic pogroms in Palestine. Adolf Eichmann visited Husseini in Palestine and subsequently maintained regular contact with him. The support was mutual, as one Arab commentator put it:

“Feeling the whip of Jewish pressure and influence, the Arabs sympathize[d] with the Nazis and Fascists in their agony and trials at the hands of Jewish intrigues and international financial pressure.”

The Palestinians and their Arab allies were anything but neutral about the fate of European Jewry. The official leader of the Palestinians, Haj Amin al-Husseini, spent the war years in Berlin with Hitler, serving as a consultant on the Jewish question. Husseini famously posed with Hitler for a photograph that was proudly displayed in the homes of many Palestinians. He was taken on a tour of Auschwitz by Himmler and expressed support for the mass murder of European Jews. He also sought to “solve the problems of the Jewish element in Palestine and other Arab countries” by employing “the same method” being used “in the Axis countries.” He would not be satisfied with the Jewish residents of Palestine – – many of whom were descendants of Sephardic Jews who had lived there for hundreds, even thousands, of years – – remaining as a minority in a Muslim state. Like Hitler, he wanted to be rid of “every last Jew.” As Husseini wrote in his memoirs:

“Our fundamental condition for cooperating with Germany was a free hand to eradicate every last Jew from Palestine and the Arab world. I asked Hitler for an explicit undertaking to allow us to solve the Jewish problem in a manner befitting our national and racial aspirations and according to the scientific methods innovated by Germany in the handling of its Jews. The answer I got was: ‘The Jews are yours.'”

The Mufti was apparently planning to return to Palestine in the event of a German victory and to construct a death camp, modeled after Auschwitz, near Nablus. Husseini incited his pro-Nazi followers with the words “Arise, o sons of Arabia. Fight for your sacred rights. Slaughter Jews wherever you find them. Their spilled blood pleases Allah, our history and religion. That will save our honor.” In 1944, a German-Arab commando unit, under Husseini’s command, parachuted into Palestine and poisoned Tel Aviv’s wells.

Husseini also helped to inspire a pro-Nazi coup in Iraq and helped to organize thousands of Muslims in the Balkans into military units known as Handselar divisions which carried out atrocities against Yugoslav Jews, Serbs and Gypsies.

34 Victims of the Stalinist Purges and More Marxist Breadcrumbs

34 bodies with bullet holes in skulls found buried near old KGB HQ
Conor Sweeney writes for the Scotsman:

BUILDING workers in Moscow have found the remains of 34 bodies and a rusty pistol buried underneath a building on a street connecting the old KGB headquarters to Red Square.

The bodies are thought to date from the 1930s, when Josef Stalin’s NKVD secret police – the KGB’s predecessors – shot scores of people in the deep, thick-walled basements of buildings near their Lubyanka HQ. This period of political purges was known as the Great Terror; hundreds of thousands were murdered or simply disappeared.

Police who examined the bodies discovered bullet holes in the skulls. “The shots were fired at close range. The wounds and the posturing suggest that the workers discovered an execution room. The bodies had been in the basement for at least 60 years,” a police source said.

Bradley Cook and Torrey Clark add in a Bloomberg report:

Josef Stalin, who ruled the Soviet Union for three decades, was responsible for the deaths of 15 million people in purges before his death in 1953, according to Memorial, the Moscow-based human rights group. The dictator was officially denounced for the crimes in 1956 by his successor, Nikita Khrushchev.

Other mass graves from the Stalin era have been turned into memorials, including the Butovo shooting range near Moscow, where more than 20,000 people were murdered between August 1937 and October 1938. In August, a giant cross was erected there after being transported from an island monastery in the Arctic that was one of the first Soviet political prisons.

More Marxist Breadcrumbs

In the real world Communism has been discredited as a system. When the USSR failed, it proved that ideological socialism coupled to the apparatus of state terror is no way to run a country, though it is an effective way to create Hell on Earth. And yet Marxist and Communist memes persist because there are still useful idiots lurking like parasites who continue to spread Marxist propaganda to people who never thought about it.

And there are those who for some reason need to educate their fellow man about the inhuman evil that is Communism and Socialism.

Rush Limbaugh, Stalinists Have Taken Over the Left

RUSH: In fact, folks, I’m going to say something that might surprise you a bit. I’m beginning to consider the possibility that the Democrats have just moved beyond ideology, in terms of what propels them. And by that I mean, I don’t think that it’s just liberalism that’s propelling them. There is something further and more disastrous and more dangerous going on, and I think they’ve become Stalinist-like. What we’re seeing here from Wesley Clark, Media Matters for America, all the Democrats on the floor of the House and Senate, denouncing me, a private citizen, this is not just liberalism. It’s Stalinist, using the power of the state to intimidate citizens. I have mentioned to you I don’t know how many times, and I’ve asked you to conduct this experiment: When you are with a group of people at a party, I don’t care where, even your friends and maybe some in the group you don’t know but most of the people you do — notice how scared everybody is to say anything for fear of making others uncomfortable, or for fear of offending somebody, or for fear of being ripped to shreds for making somebody uncomfortable, or offending them.

We are allowing ourselves to be shut up by virtue of political correctness, not willing to offend anybody and so forth, and you try this test. Continue reading

JFK’s Assassination from the Texas Schoolbook Depository to the Mitrokhin Archive

Lt. Gen. Ion Mihai Pacepa, the highest ranking intelligence officer ever to have defected from the Soviet bloc, states:

In the 1990s, retired KGB officer Vasily Mitrokhin, helped by the British MI6, smuggled ca 25,000 pages of highly confidential KGB documents out of Moscow. They represent a minuscule part of the KGB archive, estimated to be some 27 billion pages (the East German Stasi archive had 3 billion). Nevertheless, the FBI described the Mitrokhin Archive as “the most complete and extensive intelligence ever received from any source.” According to this archive, the first American book on the assassination, Oswald: Assassin or Fall Guy?, which blames the CIA and the FBI for the crime, was masterminded by the KGB. The book’s author, Joachim Joesten, a German-born American communist, spent five days in Dallas after the assassination, then went to Europe and disappeared from sight. A few months later Joesten’s book was published by American communist Carlo Aldo Marzani (New York), who received $80,000 from the KGB to produce pro-Soviet books, plus an annual $10,000 to advertise them aggressively. Other documents in the Mitrokhin Archive identify the first American reviewer of this book, Victor Perlo, as an undercover KGB operative.

Joesten’s book was dedicated to American Mark Lane, described in the Mitrokhin Archive as a leftist who anonymously received money from the KGB. In 1966 Lane published the bestseller Rush to Judgment, alleging that Kennedy was killed by a right-wing American group. These two books encouraged people with any remotely related background expertise to join the fray. Each viewed events from his own perspective, but all accused elements in the U.S. of that crime. New Orleans district attorney Jim Garrison looked around his home district and in 1967 arrested a local man, whom he accused of conspiring with elements of U.S. intelligence to murder Kennedy in order to stop the latter’s efforts to end the Cold War. The accused was acquitted in 1969, but Garrison clung to his story, first writing A Heritage of Stone (Putnam, 1970) and eventually publishing On the Trail of the Assassins (Sheriden Square, 1988), one of the books that inspired Oliver Stone’s movie JFK.

The Kennedy assassination conspiracy was born—and it never died. According to another document, in April 1977 KGB chairman Yury Andropov informed the Politburo that the KGB was launching a new desinformatsiya campaign to further implicate “American special services” in the Kennedy assassination. Unfortunately, the Mitrokhin Archive is silent on the subject after that.

As I said a few months ago, “the answer that resulted from the process of investigation and trial was correct, but not politically correct according to the Marxist paradigm of the hippie left.” Now we have an ex-Soviet intelligence officer who states that the reason for the conspiracy theorizing is a Soviet disinformation operation.

Unqualified for a Nobel Prize for Science

Al Gore was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. Doug Mellgren writes:

“A prerequisite for winning the Nobel Peace Prize is making a difference, and Al Gore has made a difference,” Conservative Member of Parliament Boerge Brende, a former minister of environment and then of trade, told The Associated Press.

Brende said he joined political opponent Heidi Soerensen of the Socialist Left Party to nominate Gore as well as Canadian Inuit activist Sheila Watt-Cloutier before the nomination deadline expired Thursday.

“Al Gore, like no other, has put climate change on the agenda. Gore uses his position to get politicians to understand, while Sheila works from the ground up,” Brende said.

Al Gore has put climate change on the political agenda. As far as debate and science go, not so much.

Question their Patriotism: Nearly 1 in 5 Democrats Say World Will Be Better Off if U.S. Loses War

Dana Blanton lays the ugly truth of rampant anti-Americanism out in plain sight.

NEW YORK — Nearly one out of every five Democrats thinks the world will be better off if America loses the war in Iraq, according to the FOX News Opinion Dynamics Poll released Thursday.

The percentage of Democrats (19 percent) who believe that is nearly four times the number of Republicans (5 percent) who gave the same answer. Seven percent of independents said the world would be better off if the U.S. lost the war.

Overall, 11 percent of Americans think the world would be “better off” if the U.S. lost the war, and 73 percent disagree.

Opinion Dynamics Corp. conducted the national telephone poll of 900 registered voters for FOX News from Sept. 25 to Sept. 26. The poll has a 3-point margin of error. [Fox News]

The time to question their patriotism is over. Wishing for their own country to lose a war has got to be the dictionary antonym of patriotism.

* * *

To carry the anti-Patriotism theme a little further, in an interview released today Barack Obama stated he decided to take his American flag lapel pin off in order to make an anti-Iraq-war statement. He is running for President of the United States. If he wins he will be the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces. The other day he refused to state that he would pull US forces out of Iraq before 2013. And he has decided to make a statement against the war by removing his American flag lapel pin.

“The truth is that right after 9-11 I had a pin,” Obama said. “Shortly after 9-11, particularly because as we’re talking about the Iraq war, that became a substitute for I think true patriotism, which is speaking out on issues that are of importance to our national security. [AP]

Symbols are important. They are not meaningless. Does Obama take off
his wedding ring when he has a fight with his wife? Does he remove his
wedding ring as a protest against the empty symbolism of the ring,
instead explaining to every Obama girl how he loves his wife and is
committed to his marriage? Wouldn’t that explanation work better if he
kept a ring on his finger?

If he is making a statement, it’s fair to explore its meaning. The surface meaning is that he no longer approves of the American nation. After removing his lapel pin, how does he respond to communists and other people who hate America and think that because he took off his lapel pin, that he must hate America too? Wouldn’t that explanation go better with a flag on his lapel? Only a naif would take off the pin and think that act has no meaning. It has a meaning, an obvious meaning, and no lengthy explanation can obscure its meaning.

Maybe he didn’t think about it very much.

Maybe he should.

Obama wants to be America’s president. How will he keep the respect of the military? How will he keep the respect of the people? How will he stand up for America’s values and needs in the face of hostile foreign powers? If he is too embarrassed about America to wear a symbolic lapel pin, then exactly how patriotic can he be?

How has one man in a cave managed to out-communicate the world’s greatest communication society?

A perceptive Singaporean diplomat and scholar, Kishore Mahbubani, was asked two years ago what puzzled him about America’s competition with Osama bin Laden. Mahbubani replied: “How has one man in a cave managed to out-communicate the world’s greatest communication society?

I and many others have often expressed frustration at the way that America has refused to act effectively in the information battle-space of the Global Jihad and Counterjihad.

How does Whoopi love Pelosi, let me count the ways

One, two, threesome. Mary Ann Akers writes about an embarrassing interlude at The View.

Even before Pelosi walked on stage to take her seat at the round table, the show’s moderator, Whoopi Goldberg, and its co-hosts – with former news anchor Barbara Walters leading the pack – started flirting with the speaker’s husband, Paul, who was seated in the front row.

“You wanna take a look at Nancy Pelosi’s handsome husband?” Walters asked the audience. Yes, came the answer in the form of whooping and hollering.

Poor guy was actually blushing. Then the show’s hosts asked him how long he and Madame Speaker have been married.

“Forty-four years,” Mr. Pelosi managed between pained glances in the direction of a blanket, a paper bag, anything to hide under.

Whoopi got the pleasure of introducing Speaker Pelosi, who she noted is the first woman speaker of the House who, somewhere along the way, managed to raise five children.

But Walters was still stuck on Mr. Pelosi, unfortunately for Mr. Pelosi. And this is where a little blushing turned to a Code Red alert, four-alarm fire.

Trying to shout over Whoopi and her other gabbing co-hosts and excited audience members, Barbara turned to Guest Pelosi and said she has heard Whoopi say before that she’d “do Paul Newman.”

“And I think she’d like to do your husband as well,” Walters deadpanned in that quintessential accent that made her the subject of late-night lampooning over the decades.

Of course, Whoopi being Whoopi, she couldn’t let that one go, which is where the speaker begins blushing.

Yes, Whoopi implicitly acknowledged, she’d like to do Mr. Pelosi – but she might take his wife while she’s at it. “I would do her as well. But we should wait on that because you’re still in office, I don’t want to cause a problem.”

Unfortunately I couldn’t find a way to embed the awkward episode on the blog, but if you go to The View you can probably find it. It’s “The View: Nancy Pelosi Part 1”.

Update 10/3/07: Allah Pundit at Hot Air did us all the great favor of transferring the video to YouTube. Watch and shudder.

Ex-Gang-Member Tells it like it is

Marco Martinez at Townhall.

Liberals often like to say that “violence is senseless.”

That’s wrong.

Violence isn’t senseless. Senseless violence is senseless. And I should know. Before being awarded the Navy Cross and having the privilege of becoming a Marine, I was a gang member. Sometimes it takes having used violence for both evil as well as good to know that there’s a profound moral difference between the two.

People often ask me whether I still support the war. I never hesitate when answering: “Absolutely I support completing the mission,” I tell them, “Now more than ever.”

I was honored to have been given the opportunity to fight in Iraq on our country’s behalf. And it was that experience—and five things I saw firsthand—that illustrate the foolishness of those who would equate American military power to that used by thugs and tyrants.

Read on for the 5 things Marco saw that make him support the War. Hint: The first one is Mass Graves.
