Blogspotting: Quid Nimis

A modern-day Dorothy Parker, except not so naive and not a communist tool like the original one. Rather the opposite. When she writes about important stuff it’s biting but never unpleasantly so. When she writes about unimportant stuff hilarity ensues, to coin a phrase.

It seems that two women who enrolled at Mount Holyoke have self-identified as members of the transgendered/transexual/genderqueer community, whatever that means, and have undergone “sexual reassignment surgery.” In layman’s woman’s person’s terms, the gals weren’t ever really gals, although they may have been sort of mostly gals by the looks of them but they always liked other gals and wanted to chop wood so they got into a women’s college whose stated mission is to support identity exploration, and then got penises attached and didn’t get thrown out of said college in part because the Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/ Transgendered/Transexual/Genderqueer/Questioning/Supportive Community managed to successfully and quietly change the student government constitution to “gender neutral” and the school doesn’t have an explicit policy (because that would cost alumnae bucks) and the school also has coed bathrooms (something I rather resented when I went there).

So, there you go. Mount Holyoke isn’t a “women’s college.” It’s a “gender grab bag” college. At this point, discriminating against non-heterosexual males, i.e., transgender/transexual/genderqueer/questioning persons who happen to be in possession of a penis would be against the mission of the school. Hey, if guys want to become gals, what better place to do it than at Mount Holyoke?

Get thee hence and drink up.
