The Committee To Protect Journalists (CPJ) says Russian President Vladimir Putin and Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez represent a new model of government control of the press.

‘Democratator’, is it?
Elected by a tyranny of the majority, the ‘Democratator’ overthrows the laws of the land that elected him and becomes a lifetime dictator, a self-crowned king.
Is a democratator anything like a democrat? When it comes to free speech, the answer is “Yes”. Read about the return of the fairness doctrine, and then watch a week’s worth of the Daily Show and realize that the Daily Show wouldn’t count as slanted while Hannity and Colmes would (despite Allan Colmes’ best efforts).
