The progress is across from the Iranian border, naturally, in order to grease the skids for the promised pipeline to carry Iranian oil to Pakistan.
ISLAMABAD: Two commanders and some 400 Marri tribesmen who had been fighting security forces in south-western Pakistan’s Kohlu area have surrendered to the Pakistani government forces, the Dawn newspaper reported on Thursday.
At a ceremony held on Thursday, the two anti-government fighting commanders, Hazar Khan Lundkani Marri and Mir Hassan Lundkani Marri, who had been running a militant training camp in Kohlu district, pledged to support government’s policies in the southwest province of Baluchistan. (Feb. 8, 2007)
It proves one thing. Pakistan isn’t making progress against Talibanistan in FATA and Waziristan because it doesn’t want to, not because it is unable.
